Et si les banlieues devenaient les pôles de créativité du XXIe siècle ? Et si tout commençait par l’éducation artistique ? Arts du spectacle, découverte culturelle et voyages : Bronx en Seine est une aventure artistique originale proposée à deux groupes d’adolescents vivant à la périphérie de Paris, à Nanterre, et de New York, dans le Bronx.

 

Depuis 2014, ces jeunes participent à une série d’ateliers de théâtre autour de pièces des répertoires français et américain, parcours qui les conduira en juillet 2015 et juillet 2016 à présenter leur travail en français et en anglais sur des scènes parisienne, nanterriennes et new-yorkaises.

 

Multiculturel, ce projet a une dimension éducative forte : en effet, au-delà de la sensibilisation aux arts, au théâtre, Bronx en Seine vise à aider ces adolescents dans leur parcours scolaire, à renforcer leur confiance en eux, à valoriser leur apprentissage des langues et à les inciter à la découverte de cultures différentes. Une expérience hors du commun qui les marquera pour la vie. 

 

Bronx en Seine est porté par trois structures, française et américaines, qui, à travers leurs actions artistiques et culturelles, oeuvrent sur leur territoire pour une meilleure intégration des populations défavorisées et fragilisées : la Compagnie Théâtre du Bout du Monde, l'ID Studio Theater et le DreamYard Project.

 

Convinced that the suburbs of our cities will be the poles of creativity of the 21st Century, we propose an original artistic adventure combining performing arts, cultural discovery, travel and practice of foreign languages to two groups of teenagers living on the outskirts of Paris (Nanterre) and New York (Bronx). These young people will participate in a series of theater workshops and/or playwriting, centered around a play of the French and American repertoires. This will lead to the presentation of their work in French, English and Spanish on different stages in Paris, Nanterre and New York. Multicultural, this artistic project has also a strong educational dimension: indeed, beyond awareness of arts, "FROM THE BRONX TO THE SEINE" aims to help these teenagers in their curriculum, strengthen their self-confidence, enhance their language  learning and encourage the discovery of different cultures.

 

This project is coordinated by three structures in France and America. The Théâtre du Bout du Monde, ID Studio
Theater and the DreamYard Project, through their artistic and cultural actions, are working for a better integration of
disadvantaged and vulnerable populations locally.
